The Spruances were in theory able to mount an 8" inch'er. But the Navy was (shockingly!) savvy enough to do a last-minute nixing of that idea before the first Spru-can left Pascagoula, Mississippi.

Actually the guns are 5 inch 38's. the rear gun mount was my GQ station as the projectile man
Graz: very weird they slapped an 8" gun on there. It not only looks odd, but that's just way too big for a ship that size!
