***** Club Finances *****
The club currently has $663.77 on the books (Dan/Jan Czarnecki and Dawn/Jesse Stricker paid at tonight’s meeting).
If you haven’t done so already please pay soon.
We will buy 4 cases of the blank Libbey glasses from the place Graz found then check into etching prices at several places around town.
***** Upcoming Events *****
Club Competitions:
The next competition at the November club meeting will be for holiday/spiced ales. This is pretty self explanatory, if you make a special brew for the holidays then bring it out for a chance to win some respect from fellow club members.
February will be Imperial Stouts and Porters.
FOTB Christmas Party:
Chris and Sandy Collette have once again volunteered to host this year’s club Christmas party. The tentative date of this year’s event is Saturday, December 5th. There’ll be more discussion of the party at next month’s meeting.
Ballast Point 13th Anniversary – Next Saturday 10/24/09:
NTC N. Promenade @ Liberty Station in Point Loma. Event runs from 1-5 PM. Additionally, they’re still looking for volunteers. More info can be found on their web site:
http://www.ballastpoint.com/events.html
San Diego Brewer’s Guild Festival – Friday 11/6 and Saturday 11/7:
Once again this quality event will be held at the World Beat Center in Balboa Park. This year they’re running it two days instead of just one. More information can be found at the Guild’s web site:
http://sandiegobrewersguild.org/
San Diego Beer Week – November 6-15, 2009:
Many cool beer related events are going on around the county to celebrate San Diego’s craft beer industry. More information can be found at the official beer week website:
http://sdbw.org/
Ojai Beer Festival 2010:
The sites have been reserved for next year’s festival. We’re in the same area as the past couple of years with one exception, this year one of our sites is across the road. This will probably work out well for anyone not interested in staying up late, being really loud or burning stuff that’s lying around the campsite. We’re still not sure if we’ll have any QUAFF members staying at our campsite however we should have more than adequate space available. We did decide that we should probably bring less beer up this year so that we don’t have to bring as much back home with us.
***** Additional Stuff *****
Carrie Little is doing the Susan G Komen 3 Day walk for breast cancer in November and would appreciate any donations in order to meet her fund raising goal this year. You can find out more information and make a donation online at the following URL:

Matt Earle had a 40% off coupon for Homebrew Mart that he gave to the club to put together a large order of ingredients so that as many people as possible can take advantage of the savings. Ed Little now has the coupon and it’s set to expire next weekend so if we’re going to do a group buy it needs to happen very shortly.
Ed Little, Jesse S. and Dan S. are exploring the possibility of putting on a BJCP exam and prep class to be held in the spring. We have two major conditions that would need to be met before this can happen. First, we need between 6-8 club members willing to take the prep class and the exam. This is a serious time commitment; the class would be 10 – 12 weeks in advance of the exam with a once a week meeting lasting about 3 hours. Secondly, we have to find a suitable venue to hold the exam (20 people max can take the test). I’ll be doing some venue exploring next week but for now, who’s interested in taking the exam? You can email me (dan@brewhound.net) directly if you’re interested or would like more information.
That’s it for this month; we’ll see everyone at the next meeting.
Cheers,
Djs
